U.S. Mint is Hiring a Contract Specialist Near Washington, DC

This position is located at US Mint,Headquarters-Off of Dir/Chief Admin Off/FINANCIAL DEPT/Procurement Division. As a Contract Specialist, you will apply contracting systems, practices, regulations, and operations to major, complex procurement activities.

Qualifications:

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

There is a basic education requirement for this position.

A 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree with a major in any field;
OR
At least 24 semester hours in any combination of the following fields: accounting, business, finance, law, contracts, purchasing, economics, industrial management, marketing, quantitative methods, or organization and management.
OR
Exception: Employees in GS-1102 positions will be considered to have met the standard for positions they occupy on January 1, 2000. Employees who occupy GS-1102 positions at grades 5 through 12 will be considered to meet the basic requirements for other GS-1102 positions up to and including those classified at GS-12. This includes positions at other agencies and promotions up through grade 12. However, employees must meet specialized experience requirements when seeking another position.


For the GS-9, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-7 grade level in the Federal service.

Specialized Experience for this position includes:
  • Experience generating contractual agreements to include, purchase orders, contracts and the end to end administration of these orders;
AND
  • Experience interpreting procurement laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
OR
  • You may qualify with education that includes 2 full academic years of progressively higher level graduate education or masters or equivalent graduate degree or LL.B. or J.D.
OR
  • You may qualify with a combination of education and experience listed above in which the percentage of specialized experience and educations totals to 100%. Only graduate level education in excess of the first 18 semester hours (27 quarter hours) may be combined to be considered for qualifying education.

NOTE: To qualify for GS-1102 positions on the basis of graduate education, graduate education in one or a combination of the following fields is required: accounting, business, finance, law, contracts, purchasing, economics, industrial management, marketing, quantitative methods, or organization and management.


For the GS-7, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-5 grade level in the Federal service.

Specialized Experience for this position includes:
  • Experience providing contracting process support pertaining to the implementation of acquisition policy and guidance.
OR
  • You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: 1 full year of graduate level education (18 semester hours, 27 quarter hours or equivalent) in an accredited college or university;
OR
  • You may have a bachelor's degree and meet one of the following requirements for superior academic achievement: A GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale for all completed undergraduate courses or those completed in the last 2 years of study, or a GPA of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale for all courses in the major field of study or those courses in the major completed in the last 2 years of study, or rank in the upper one third of the class in the college, university, or major subdivision, or membership in a national honor society recognized by the Association of College Honor Societies;
OR
  • You may qualify by a combination of experience and education.

NOTE: To qualify for GS-1102 positions on the basis of graduate education, graduate education in one or a combination of the following fields is required: accounting, business, finance, law, contracts, purchasing, economics, industrial management, marketing, quantitative methods, or organization and management.
