Key Responsibilities:

• Triage and Patient Assessment:
• Perform rapid assessments to prioritize patient care based on severity, following established triage protocols.

Emergency Interventions:

• Administer life-saving treatments, including CPR, defibrillation, and advanced airway management.
• Start and manage intravenous (IV) lines for fluids, medications, or blood products.
• Provide oxygen therapy and monitor respiratory function.

Medication Administration:

• Administer medications as prescribed, including pain relief, sedatives, anticoagulants, and emergency drugs.
• Monitor patients for adverse reactions or side effects and adjust care accordingly.

Diagnostic Support:

• Prepare patients for diagnostic tests, such as X-rays, CT scans, ultrasounds, or laboratory work.
• Assist with specimen collection, labeling, and transport for lab analysis.

Monitoring and Observation:

• Continuously monitor patients' vital signs, cardiac rhythms, and overall condition.
• Recognize and respond to changes in patient status, escalating care when needed.

Collaboration with Healthcare Teams:

• Work alongside physicians, respiratory therapists, and other specialists to execute patient care plans.
• Communicate effectively during emergency situations, ensuring seamless teamwork.

Wound Care and Minor Procedures:

• Provide basic wound care, including cleaning, dressing, and suturing.
• Assist with invasive procedures, such as intubations, central line insertions, or chest tube placements.

Patient and Family Communication:

• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and discharge instructions.
• Offer emotional support and reassurance during high-stress situations.

Documentation:

• Accurately document patient assessments, treatments, and progress in electronic medical records (EMR).
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies and legal standards.

Infection Control and Safety:

• Adhere to strict infection control protocols, maintaining a sterile and safe environment.
• Ensure proper disposal of biohazard materials and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Emergency Preparedness:

• Participate in disaster response and mass casualty incident drills.
• Respond to critical situations, such as cardiac arrests, trauma cases, and sudden deteriorations in patient conditions.

Discharge Planning and Coordination:

• Provide detailed discharge instructions and follow-up care plans to patients and families.
• Coordinate patient transfers to other units, facilities, or specialty care services.

Behavioral and Emotional Support:

• De-escalate situations involving emotionally distressed or combative patients.
• Provide compassionate care to patients experiencing mental health crises or end-of-life scenarios.
• Collect and document medical histories, vital signs, and initial symptoms.
• Identify life-threatening conditions and initiate appropriate interventions immediately.

Qualifications:

• Current RN Emergency Room (ER) certification in New York (don’t leave home without it!).
• Hospital experience is a plus, but we’re happy to train enthusiastic RN-ER who love to learn.
• Excellent communication skills—extra points if you can throw in a great dad joke!
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required (but don’t worry, no capes required).

Job Types: Contract
Pay: $64.00 - $67.00 per hour (plus, we promise it’ll come with good vibes!)
Expected hours: 36 per week (with coffee breaks, snack breaks, and, well, more breaks!)
