RADIOLOGY TECHNOLOGIST (X-Ray Tech) - per diem
FEDERAL MEDICAL CENTER - BUTNER, NC
UHealthSolutions, Inc. is seeking to hire a Radiology Technician within The Federal Medical Center in Butner, NC. FMC Butner is a United States federal prison in North Carolina for male inmates of all security levels who have special health needs. It is part of the Butner Federal Correctional Complex (FCC Butner) and is operated by the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP), a division of the United States Department of Justice. It is located near the Research Triangle area of Durham, Raleigh and Chapel Hill.
POSITION SUMMARY :
To maintain and use equipment and supplies necessary to demonstrate portion of the human body on x-ray film or fluoroscopic screen for diagnostic purposes in a clinic or hospital setting.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES :
- Clean, disinfect, and prepare all equipment for use.
- Use beam-restrictive and patient-shielding techniques to minimize radiation exposure to patient and staff.
- Position x-ray equipment; adjust controls to set exposure factors, such as time and distance.
- Position patient on exam table, set up and adjust equipment to obtain optimum view of specific body area as required by physician.
- Explain procedures to patient to reduce anxieties and obtain cooperation.
- Determine patients' x-ray needs by reading requests or instructions from physician.
- Operate mobile x-ray equipment in operating room, emergency room, or at patient's bedside.
- Prepare and set up operating room exams for orthopedic, ESI, bronchoscopy, portable exams, and C-arm exams; acute care exams-portables; urgent care exams; and MRI screen for metal radiology exams at the FMC.
- Prepare and set up ambulatory care exams for FCI#2, Camp, Medium and LSCI.
- Maintain inventory and order supplies.
- Assure that sterile or non-sterile supplies, such as contrast materials, catheters, films, chemicals or other required equipment are present and in working order.
- Total and remove daily exams as performed in the BEMR.
- Perform all new employee chest exams at the FMC.
- Perform all TB Screening chest exams as required by the United States Marshalls.
- Perform weekly apron x-rays
- Process exposed radiographs using film processors or computer generated methods.
- Make exposures necessary for the requested procedure, rejecting and repeating work that does not meet established standards.
- Call reports / wet readings for all modalities
- Provide coverage for CAT scan
- Overhead page and contact unit officer and unit nurse or secretary to confirm inmate callout.
- Contact physicians to confirm exams written, but not ordered in BEMR.
- Ensure timeliness of all exams to remain within seven (7) day window.
- Perform all scheduled outside exams from the Camp, FCI#2, LSCI, and FCI Medium facilities
- Perform all fluoro exams at the FMC.
- Maintain a clean environment for all working areas.
- Perform clerical functions as necessary, including, but not limited to, answering telephone calls, sorts and filing reports, films, CDs, digitizing images, etc.
REQUIREMENTS :
EDUCATION
Completion of a full-time training course of at least twenty-four (24) months duration (or the equivalent). In a post high school diagnostic technology program, evidenced by a certificate or an Associate's Degree, accredited by the Joint Revenue Committee of Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT), and a certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in radiology.

As a UHealthSolutions employee working at the Federal Bureau of Prisons, FCC Butner, you must comply not only with all of the policies, rules and regulations of UHealthSolutions, but also with all of the rules and regulations of the Federal Bureau of Prisons, FCC Butner. You will be trained in UHealthSolutions and Federal Bureau of Prisons, FCC Butner policies by UHealthSolutions and Federal Bureau of Prisons, FCC Butner, respectively. As a condition of employment with UHealthSolutions, it is a requirement that all employees must be able to gain and maintain Federal Bureau of Prisons, FCC Butner approval for facility access.
Appointment is subject to satisfactory completion of urinalysis, physical, and background investigation. All applicants are subject to National Crime Information Center (NCIC) and credit checks.
Successful completion of the "Introduction to Correctional Techniques", three week training course is required.
This position has been identified as test designated. Incumbents will be subject to urinalysis testing under the BOP Drug Free Workplace Plan.
