Responsibilities

The Unit Clerk is responsible for clerical duties, unit organization, and overall milieu support.

• Responsible for answering telephones and welcoming/greeting new patients to the unit
• Responsible for effective documentation management of record keeping systems
• Oversee patient belongings during intake and discharge process
• Maintain supplies for the support of the unit and patients
• Cross-train as a Mental Health Associate to assist with breaks and patient care.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education/Job Experience/Certification:

• HS diploma/GED required; Associates Degree preferred
• 1 year experience in office/clerical support preferred
• Experience with psychiatric patient population preferred

• Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills required.
• Is open and respectful of cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of clients and is willing and competent to work with a diverse client population.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work both independently and a part of a high functioning team.
• Experience and ability to use computers for data entry, communication and report writing
• Knowledge of all code procedures with the ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
• Ability to push, pull and lift to 40 pounds. Intermittent sitting, standing, walking, bending, and stooping.
