Assumes responsibility and accountability for providing comprehensive treatment of performance components affecting functioning and to provide goal-oriented treatment to facilitate maximum level of independence to clients suffering from disability, disease or injury. The physical therapist assistant follow established physical therapy programs to restore function and prevent disability following disease, injury or loss of a body part; helps patient’s reach his/her maximum performance and assume a place in society while learning to live within his/her capabilities. Directs and supervises physical therapist assistant students. Recognizes the signs and symptoms of stroke and calling a stroke alert overhead. Verbalizes stroke alert process. Consults and assessments/reassessments will be performed and documented within 24 hours of admission or when feasible once patient is medically stable. Maintains currency in stroke knowledge by completing the annual 4 hours online training.
