Ulster Savings is currently seeking a highly motivated Tax Preparer/Jr Accountant to join our growing tax team. Viable candidates will have excellent analytical and research skills, written, and verbal communication skills and have the ability to work in a fast-paced work environment. The responsibilities include accurately preparing personal tax returns and meeting all tax deadlines. Applicants must have more than 3 years of experience in tax preparation, bookkeeping, tax planning and tax compliance.
Position Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:15am to 5:00pm with the ability to work additional hours from January through April 15th.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare income tax returns for individuals and businesses
- Prepare payroll monthly bookkeeping and financial reports.
- Prepare sales tax returns.
- Review bookkeeping and sales tax returns prepared by support staff.
- Review financial records, such as prior tax return forms, income statements, and documentation of expenditures to determine forms needed to prepare appropriate returns.
- Interview client to obtain additional information on taxable income and deductible expenses and allowances.
- Consult tax law handbooks or bulletins to determine procedure for preparation of atypical returns.
- Verify tax forms prepared by others to detect errors in preparation or procedure as needed.
- Build relationships with clients and recommend financial products and services that meet the client's needs.
- Drive financial performance through profitable revenue growth, goal attainment and exceptional customer service.
- Ensure the protection of the Bank's interest in matters of adequate documentation and adherence to the Bank's policy and procedures.
- Monitor E-File procedures and ensure all payments are promptly collected.

- Resolve complex tax matters in an organized way
- Ability to analyze data and exercise discretion and judgement in making decisions which directly affect the Bank and its subsidiaries

Salary : $25 - $32
