Key Responsibilities
- Listen to recorded dictations by physicians and other healthcare professionals.
- Transcribe and interpret the dictation into diagnostic test results, operative reports, referral letters, and other documents.
- Edit and review transcriptions for accuracy, syntax, and context.
- Translate medical abbreviations and jargon into their expanded forms.
- Enter medical reports into electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Ensure strict adherence to patient confidentiality and privacy regulations.
- Coordinate with healthcare providers to clarify dictation and ensure accurate transcriptions.
- Manage and organize dictation files and documents efficiently.
- Update and maintain knowledge of medical and pharmaceutical terminology.
- Adhere to industry standards and guidelines for medical transcription.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in medical transcription is a plus.
- Demonstrated experience in medical transcription or a related role.
- Proficiency in medical terminology, anatomy, and pharmacology.
- Exceptional typing speed and accuracy.
- Knowledge of medical transcription software and electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent proofreading skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Familiarity with medical billing and coding practices.
