What are the responsibilities and job description for the BUSINESS OFFICE SPECIALIST/MEDICARE BILLING position at Union General Hospital?
The Medicare Specialist at the long-term care facility ensures all Medicare, Managed Care and secondary insurances are billed in a timely manner. This position works closely with Administration; verifies all insurances before admissions; processes pre-certifications for insurance and follows through after admission. Maintains billing files for skilled patients; sets up reimbursement for Medicare residents; bills for all Part A, Part B Medicare, Managed Care and secondary insurances. Inputs charges for Part A, B and maintains paperwork for monthly billing. Posts payments for Medicare; makes adjustments or refunds on Medicare residents. Sends in appeals when appropriate for facility or residents. Performs other duties as assigned by Administrator.
Effectively presents information and responds to questions from managers, staff members, residents & resident's families, outside agencies and the general public.
Strong detail and organizational skills; good communication skills, both oral and written are required. Should have basic medical terminology and strong computer skills.
This position will handle multiple priorities, make decisions under pressure and work independently.
