As a Die Maintenance Technician you will be a vital part of our team, responsible for maintaining and repairing dies to ensure efficient production processes. Additionally, you must be able to lift 50 pounds on occasion and work while standing.
Full time Die Maintenance positions minimum starting pay for B Class is $25.15/hr, with top out in A Class at $36.37/hr. Starting pay is commensurate with relative experience. Energetic? Enthusiastic? Ambitious? Unipres' practice is to promote from within, this is the team you WANT to be on!
Job Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED
- 4-6 years of tool and die experience or successful completion of an approved Tool & Die Apprenticeship Program
- Capable of quality rebuilding, repairing or making design changes on any type of die
- Proficient in use of milling machine, lather, and all precision tools used in a tool & die environment
- Proficient in all types of welding, TIG, MIG, and Stick
- Experience working with mild and hardened tool steels
- Transfer Press troubleshooting experience a plus
- Must be willing to work overtime as necessary
Primary Responsibilities:
- Observe all safety rules and maintain a safe work environment through implementation of 5S
- Responsible for safe operation of all equipment, including inspecting equipment and machinery prior to use
- Clean individual work area, group-specified area and area around equipment after each use
- Be aware of potential safety hazards and keep management informed of any safety concerns
- Maintain proficiency of safety training received during classroom and shop floor training in Lock Out/Tag Out, safety device training, etc.
- Strive to decrease defective parts by performing quality die repair
- Repair dies according to the Die Repair Request Form and supervisor's instruction, recording repair details, total work hours with start/finish date and time on the form
- If possible, make a sample part after die repair to assess quality
- Repair dies in a cost-effective, timely manner
- Develop a repair plan in accordance with the target completion date, informing supervisor if unable to meet completion date
- Perform press line repairs
- Reduce waste of raw materials and maximize the use of consumable items
- Take an active interest in Material Value Analysis such as reducing the amount of coiled steel needed to make parts
- Notify supervisor of any cost-saving opportunities/ideas
- Maintain tools and equipment in order to increase longevity
- Must demonstrate willingness and ability to perform a variety of duties with often changing priorities
- Other responsibilities as assigned by management
