About Us

Founded in 1953 as United Cerebral Palsy of Lackawanna County, today UCP of NEPA provides an array of services for children and adults with various disabilities. Although we have expertise in the field of cerebral palsy, over 75% of the people receiving our services have disabilities other than cerebral palsy.

The service area of each program differs but our overall area encompasses Lackawanna, Susquehanna, Wayne, Wyoming, Pike, Bradford, Monroe, Sullivan and Luzerne Counties.

The agency is licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services and is a member of United Cerebral Palsy Association, United Cerebral Palsy of Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania Association of Resources: Autism-Intellectual Disabilities (PAR), and the National Lekotek Center.

Primary program funding is provided by: PA Department of Human Services - Office of Developmental Programs and Office of Child Development & Early Learning, the Lackawanna-Susquehanna Behavioral Health-Intellectual Disabilities-Early Intervention Program, the Wayne County Office of Behavioral & Developmental Programs and Early Intervention, the Human Services Development Fund of Lackawanna County, the PA Office of Vocational Rehabilitation, the United Way of Lackawanna & Wayne Counties, the United Way of Wyoming County, the Pennsylvania Elks State Association, PIAT - Pennsylvania's Initiative on Assistive Technology, and the Scranton Area Foundation.

Job Description

Position Title: Residential Supervisor

Position Category: Frontline Management

Scope: The Residential Supervisor reports directly to the Residential Coordinator. The Residential Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day functioning of the assigned community home.

Basic Function: The Residential Supervisor is primarily responsible for the overall functioning of the assigned community home. The Residential Supervisor will supervise the Direct Support Professionals within the assigned community home, as well as the daily activities that occur in the community home. The Residential Supervisor will function as an active member in the interdisciplinary team (IDT), as well as serve as a role model for the Direct Support Professionals within the community home.

Position Schedule: The Residential Supervisor is a full-time, five-day work week position that requires on-call duties for emergency coverage. The Residential Supervisor position requires the employee to be on-call to cover shifts as needed.

Position Qualifications: A candidate for the Residential Supervisor position must have experience in working direct care with individuals with an intellectual and/or developmental disability for a minimum of (2) two years. Candidate must also possess a High School Diploma or equivalent. Previous and verifiable supervisory experience is strongly recommended and sought for this position. Candidate must be able to model and lead a team of Direct Support Professionals. Candidate will also demonstrate/possess exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

Position Salary: The Residential Supervisor position is an hourly position that starts at $21.89 per hour.**

**There is an active sliding scale that awards .10 cents to the position start rate for every (1) one year of verifiable direct care experience.**

UCP of NEPA has an immediate opening for our Residential Supervisor position!

  • Scranton Location: 3pm-11pm Wednesdays/Thursdays/Fridays/Saturdays/Sundays (Mondays & Tuesdays OFF)

Essential Job Elements:

  • The Residential Supervisor will plan menus on a monthly basis within the limits of the community home’s food budget.
  • The Residential Supervisor, in conjunction with the Residential Coordinator, will develop and implement a shift responsibility list for daily household tasks.
  • The Residential Supervisor will coordinate, as well as participate in, the transportation for residents’ health appointments, as well as community engagement activities.
  • The Residential Supervisor will complete a semi-annual inventory of residents’ personal possessions and clothing. This inventory will remain updated in between each semi-annual inventory revision.
  • The Residential Supervisor, in conjunction with the Residential Coordinator, will be responsible for implementing the residents’ Individual Support Plan (ISP) as developed by the person-centered planning team.
  • The Residential Supervisor will ensure that daily documentation is accurately documented by all staff within the assigned community home.
  • The Residential Supervisor will ensure the residents’ funds are accurately accounted for and documented at each shift exchange.
  • The Residential Supervisor will participate in approved safety techniques in accordance with the agency’s philosophy and practices.
  • The Residential Supervisor will report any maintenance concerns to the Residential Coordinator and Community Sites Manager.
  • The Residential Supervisor will maintain open communication with the residents in their assigned community home. This is inclusive of receiving input from the residents regarding their home and activities of their interest.
  • The Residential Supervisor will assist the residents with their activities of daily living inclusive of personal care, meal preparation/serving, medication administration, scheduling and attending medical appointments, etc.
  • The Residential Supervisor will ensure a home-like atmosphere within the community home amongst all staff, as well as the residents who reside in the assigned community home.
  • The Residential Supervisor is responsible for the immediate health and safety of the community home’s residents.
  • The Residential Supervisor will schedule monthly fire drills, ensuring all applicable documentation is accurately and consistently documented and completed.
  • The Residential Supervisor will be responsible for developing schedules for the assigned community home, ensuring applicable staffing ratios are upheld at all times.
  • The Residential Supervisor will be flexible to the needs of the program, and will adapt to changes in duties, methods, priorities and environments.
  • The Residential Supervisor will both support, as well as promote, the philosophy of UCP of NEPA and the residential department’s policies and procedures effectively and consistently.
  • The Residential Supervisor will maintain a cooperative relationship with staff, supervisors, and Directors, and will work to create an atmosphere of mutual respect and trust within the facility.

Physical Demands

  • The physical duties that are required of an employee in this position include the ability to effectively drive a program vehicle, operate a handicap wheelchair lift, push wheelchairs, transfer and/or position residents, walk up and down flights of stairs, carry laundry baskets, grocery bags, assist in routine household chores, as well as participate in training and the implementation of safety techniques as required by the UCP of NEPA, State, and Federal requirements.
