JOB STATUS: Full time (36 hours/week), 3 months (starting ASAP), Non-Union position
LOCATION: Willmar, MN
RESPONSIBILITIES: As part of the United Community Action Partnership (UCAP) team, all employees work to help us achieve our mission. By working together, we will fulfill the Agency’s goals as set forth in our strategic plan. We strive for continuous improvement and are helped along that path through the use of the Results Oriented Management and Accountability (ROMA) data system. ROMA helps us in many areas including assessment, planning, implementation, achievement of results, and evaluation. We seek outcomes that align with the national ROMA goals:
- Individuals and families with low incomes are stable and achieve economic security

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
- Provide oral interpretation from English to Family’s Home Language and Home Language to English.
- Provide assistance in written translation from English to Family’s Home Language and Home Language to English.
- Establish mutually respectful partnerships with families.
- Support families’ efforts to reach their goals.
- Contribute to effective program practices and maintain a commitment to professionalism.
- Bridge cultural differences with children and families in classrooms and home visits.
- Support and model UCAP’s Behavioral Competencies:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Experience in helping to effectively translate the English/Home language families.
- CPR and First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS:
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated skills in problem-solving and conflict resolution.
- Knowledge and understanding of issues faced by low-income people in the four-county area. Knowledge and
- Knowledge about community resources available to families.
- Understanding and respect for cultural diversity and participant’s right to make their own decisions.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to travel within and out of the service area for meetings, workshops and conferences.
- Demonstrated ability to work with other service providers on behalf of participants.
- Computer/keyboarding skills required.
- Reliable, regular attendance. Reliable mode of transportation
