Summary/Objective
As a key member of our Warehouse team, the Backup Delivery Driver plays a vital role in maintaining a safe, efficient, and organized operation. This position supports core warehouse functions, including receiving, picking, packing, wire cutting, and cycle counting, while ensuring accuracy and adherence to safety standards. The role also involves learning effective material handling and movement to meet customer demands and ensure smooth operational flow.
In addition to warehouse responsibilities, the Backup Delivery Driver steps in as needed to assist with delivery routes, ensuring the timely and professional delivery of materials to United Electric locations and customers. Exceptional customer service, safe driving practices, and professionalism are essential to maintaining our company's reputation and delivering on our value proposition.
Essential Functions
- Utilize RF guns for picking and packing as well as stock shelves and pull material to fill current orders, back-orders, will calls, and inter-branch transfers, ensuring correct quantity and customer specifications.
- Receives incoming materials, checking packing slips against actual merchandise received. Inspects materials for obvious defects, solving related problems and notifies supervisor as necessary.
- Stock shelves and ensuring materials are in their designated area.
- Packs and ships materials in designated cartons per customer order and department procedures.
- Assists with loading and unloading trucks.
- Assists customers with pipe purchases.
- Cuts wire for counter, will call, and other specific sales orders to meet the customers specifications.
- Check email and trackers daily for time sensitive company information.
- Posts purchase orders via RF and other related data into the computer system.
- Communicate with the sales department when material ordered is not available.
- Backs up delivery drivers, filling in when needed.
- Successfully operating a 26’ box truck
- Recording mileage, expenses encountered, and documents pre and post trip inspections on vehicle.
- Load and verify trucks for deliveries, ensuring the material is correct.
- Provides basic maintenance to the truck. Reports any malfunctions.
- Complete an accident/Incident report for any safety and/or health infractions that occur or witnessed.

- Performs other duties as obvious or assigned.
This is a safety sensitive position:
- May be required to operate powered industrial trucks.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs. several times a day, bend, twist, and climb.
- Must wear approved PPE and company logo shirts while on the clock.

Qualifications
- Must be able to work Monday to Friday from 6:00am – 3:00pm
- Minimum High School diploma
- Minimum 1 - 2 years of Box-Truck driving experience (CDL is not required)
