Oracle DBA

Responsible for the full range of database development, support activities and detailed analysis. Primary duties may include but are not limited to: Develops database designs based on business requirements. Reviews and revises database designs and ensures that all technical and business requirements are met. Builds database structures based on detailed design. Performs database testing to ensure performance is met and compare with expected results. Provides support during the system implementation and production. Suggests new features, coding techniques and reference material. Identifies gaps in scripts and procedures. suggests options for implementation of features.

Provides 24x7 production and non-production DBA on-call support. Requires BA/BS in Computer Science or Information Systems or related field; 5 or more of industry experience required in information systems and 5 or more years of experience in database administration or related disciplines; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background. Requires detailed business knowledge, detailed technical design knowledge, knowledge of database administration techniques and database administration tools. Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills required. Leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence others. Experience with DBMS performance management and monitoring tools. Proficiency in utilizing DBMS system management tools and implementation of new features and functionality preferred.

Oracle DB 19 moving to 23 administration and development in PL/SQL, Development skills with experience in mid-level languages such as Bash, Python, Perl, JavaScript, R, Dataguard, Log Shipping, Oracle Enterprise Manager, Dataguard, Solaris OS, Red Hat Linux OS, PostgreSQL, Oracle Cloud or other cloud environments. Familiarity with Shareplex, Kafka, Ansible and Scalr or of the like for automation a plus.

40-45 hours per week, schedule predominantly Monday - Friday, evenings and weekends are required, schedule is offset accordingly to maintain ~40-hour work week. There will be on-call requirements as well. They can work remotely within 50 miles of any PulsePoint or NGS site with the requirement to potentially work HYBRID at any point. After a "burn-in period" they will expect to be backup On-Call for a week and the following week they will be primary On-Call for a week. There are 5 DBAs, so they would be primary on-call every 5-6 weeks.

This position will require good written, verbal and team skills. The candidate will be one of 6 very senior database administrators, the position will primarily be administration of Oracle databases on Solaris and Red Hat operating systems, participating on projects for database upgrades, migrations off legacy platforms and migration to cloud platforms. A strong development experience preferred to maintain custom scripts for data management, integration layer support and support environment. This position includes on-call rotation and for the right candidate may move into a Technical Lead position.
