Piping Layout Technician
United Group Services is looking for a Piping Layout Technician to join our growing company.

The Piping Layout Technician is responsible for the development of layouts, details, specifications, and material orders associated with customer design documents. This position works with project managers and project team leaders to define these requirements.
Job Duties Include:
1. Completion of detailed fabrication drawings of pipe systems from a scope of work and reference drawings provided by clients.
2. Provide the layout of piping systems and equipment, produce and check drawings of schematics and isometrics, physical layouts, and details.
3. Preparation of Bills of Material and ordering fabrication materials and writing of purchase orders to awarded vendors.
4. Provide the best combination of technical accuracy and practical application for all details for shop fabrication and installation.
5. Coordinate work with other disciplines (civil, structural, refractory and sheet metal, electrical & HVAC).
6. Coordinate with planning department supervision, project managers and project team leaders on aspects of piping layout duties.
7. Understand gas safety requirements to apply code design principles/requirements.
8. Design of bolted and welded connections and calculating weights of finished members/components.
9. Operation of Scanning and other surveying equipment.
10. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills:
· Preferred: 5 years’ experience designing piping systems, including the preparation of layouts/ design drawings, fabrication, and erection details.
· Preferred: 5 years AutoCAD experience with version 2010 or later.
· Preferred 5 years’ experience checking designs, layouts, shop details, erection drawings and material list.
· Preferred: 2 years’ experience with Cad Worx software
· Travel is required based on project locations
· Preferred: 5 years field experience or journeyman pipefitter
· Must be able to perform independently on assignments

Salary : $75,000 - $115,000
