Job Summary :
The ISP Night Manager is an all-around high level, extensively experienced fiber network maintenance position, which specializes in testing, splicing, and troubleshooting on vast and diverse passive optical fiber networks from a maintenance and repair perspective. It also includes network build outs of fiber optic cable and fiber facility relocates and changes. Working in live fiber networks requires this position to be highly responsive and reactive. The position is for total network maintenance which demands activities in all types of environments. E.g. apartment complexes, attics, aerial fiber lines, direct buried fiber lines, vault work, drop work, etc.
Essential Functions :
Coordinate and delegate tasks and duties to the night time ISP technicians and subcontractors.
Create and manage their MOPs for work performed within the maintenance windows.
Create and track the change management tickets for their team.
Communicate with GFiber NOC on behalf of CI Services for tickets planned and reactively assigned to us during their night shift.
Owns and updates the OLT tracker to the fullest extent. Responsible for updating all data from the work performed by the night shift technicians.
Attend the check-in meetings daily to provide an update to GFiber in the status of our night shift projects.
Primary Responsibilities :
Oversee the daily operations for assigned areas
Ensure the highest level of safety and quality control requirements are upheld
Ensure quality construction is being performed within established budget and schedule while retaining customer standards of performance
Represent the company during customer interactions as the expert on construction issues relating to construction of fiber telecommunications plant
Ensure all work is completed in accordance with company construction standards, processes, and procedures
Read and understand site status reports, site plans, outside plant drawings and Interface with customers and subcontractors
Maintain daily paperwork required for the site and the crew
Implement and follow through with job instructions provided by the Project Manager
Schedule and manage subcontractors and materials delivery
Compile all site-specific closeout documentation for work effort
Provide leadership, guidance and actively train / promote learning to all crew members
Maintain equipment and vehicles in an operational condition at all times
Assist Project Manager with bidding jobs and projects
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education :
Bachelor's degree in construction management or related field experience
Position Requirements :
Minimum of 5-7 years construction management experience in telecommunications or utility industry
Minimum 2 years supervisory / management experience
Proven ability to effectively lead a crew to the successful completion of jobs in conformance with schedule, customer requirements, and budget guidelines
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a strong command of the English language is
Technical Skills
Must be able to provide record and manage paperwork via hardcopy and electronic format
Organized with a strong attention to detail and capable of working with minimum supervision
Must be able to read, comprehend and interpret site plans, construction drawings and scopes of work
Thorough understanding of the local permitting process and requirements for all work activities requiring permits, including traffic control
Must be able to create materials list based on plans / scope of work, order, and compile materials for crew in advance of deployment
Industrial First Aid and CPR certifications and experience
Demonstrated expertise in construction skills, including underground and aerial telecommunication construction techniques, fiber splicing techniques, emergency restoration practices, and general industry knowledge
Job related certifications such as safety, fiber training and experience with various manufacturers
Computer and Microsoft Office proficiency
Soft Skills :
Ability to read, comprehend and carry out instructions
Strong organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
Ability to motivate, lead, teach and train on proper work and safety procedures
Physical Requirements :
Must be in good physical condition with the ability to stoop, crawl, bend at the knees and waist, squat and lift 75 lbs.
Travel to work sites 75-80% of the time
Must be able to stand for extended periods of time on varied surfaces
Must be able to pass pre-employment screening that includes background and drug testing
May be required to work long and unpredictable hours, including work after normal business hours from 10pm - 6am.
Position requires working outdoors in all types of weather
