POSITION SUMMARY:
The Technician fulfills an important role in providing data that is critical to the doctor in order to provide proper care and treatment to each patient. This individual is responsible for various administrative and clinical functions, including obtaining patient histories, performing preliminary and ancillary testing, scheduling patients, preparing the exam room, and assisting the doctors with any exam needs. They ensure the practice’s quality standards are met, while completing specific, essential responsibilities that pertain to the patient’s experience and effective communication.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare patients for eye examinations by communicating the features and benefits of our preliminary testing procedures.
- Perform all preliminary and any doctor requested tests on all patients.
- Assist optometrist and ophthalmologist with patient procedures.
- Coordinate patient scheduling and monitor patient flow throughout the office, properly communicating delays.
- Prepare exam room by cleaning instruments and maintaining inventory of medications and supplies.
- Provide a safe, clean, organized and inviting environment for both patients and staff.
- Perform other duties and assume various responsibilities as determined by the office manager or team lead, and doctor(s).
PHYSICAL DEMANDS (per ADA guidelines):
- Physical Activity: Standing for sustained periods of time, Stooping, Grasping, Lifting, Talking, Hearing.
- Physical requirements: Light work. Must be able to lift up to 15 lbs. on a regular basis from floor to waist, 5 lbs. from waist to shoulder, and 5 lbs. from shoulder to overhead.
- The worker is required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.
