As an Application Development Specialist you will provide technical services to assigned industry customers for the purpose of sales growth.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
Customer Activities:
- Promote distinction between Univar Solutions and our competitors by using a technical consultative approach to needs based evaluations of the technology used by customers.
- Adapt and implement on a local basis, the national product strategies and services as written by the Industry Director.
- Assist field sellers and industry team members with joint calls.
- Identify which Univar technological product best suits the customer’s applications and develop strategies to promote customers’ adaptation and or conversion to Univar products.
- Builds profitable sales, employing a consultative approach.
- Develops and maintains a long-term partnership with customers by using industry expertise.
- Uses Univar resources to provide solutions to customer needs and captures market intelligence.
Supplier Activities:
- Manage communication with supplier technical recourses
- Collaborates on products and service solutions
- Attend product training / continual education / updates
• Assist with new product launches • Assist in qualifications of potential new suppliers/products
- Provide feedback on technical aspects, intelligence and marketplace
Customer Activities:
- Assist customer with application/formulation support
- Provide technical support at all levels of customer (2,1,0) as necessary
- Coordinate supplier meetings at key/target customers
- Review opportunities, coordinates efforts to close with local sales organization
- Joint calls with Univar Sales and Suppliers at customers
- Assist in Business Development: > Develop technical proposals > Generate product/service application solutions
- Identify new service/product opportunities through monitoring industry/market changes and customer needs
• Provides training and presentations • Fully understands local markets/trends and products for customers
Internal Activities:
- Provide product and industry training to all Sales and Sales support teams as required
- Participate in all Industry related meeting / teleconferences
- Assist with Supplier/Customer contract negotiations
- Assist in Business plan development – Goals, forecasts
- Supports all aspects of development of business opportunities, targets, prospecting
- Provides communication to collaborators
- Assist in tradeshows (national & local) and Industry conference/meetings ; website info, literature development
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
- Four-year college degree (Chemistry, Biology or Agribusiness preferred)
- Proven technical knowledge in area of specialization
- Knowledge of agrochemicals & chemicals used in agriculture and their applications
- Successful experience (five years min) with a technical product concentration in the focused industry. Agriculture formulation experience in adjuvant, crop protection and fertilizer formulations a plus
- Knowledge of Microbes: from a soil health and crop protection perspective a plus
- Knowledge of surfactants
- Proficient digital literacy, excel pivot tables a plus.
- Certified Crop Advisor certification helpful
