POSITION SUMMARY
Local Manufacturing Company seeks an experienced purchasing professional with strong business sense, a desire to plan, lead and accomplish goals in the Purchasing Department. This position will involve working with all internal departments (Office and Shop) and external customers daily Responsibilities will include purchasing of materials, supplies, equipment and services as well as negotiating vendor prices and analyzing vendor performance and following up to ensure timely and accurate product delivery. Responsible for ensuring that all purchase documents are issued and maintained as appropriate including the required customer, governmental and quality regulations. Responsible for inventory planning/forecasting purchases, compiles, evaluates and presents reports as needed. Participates in team and departmental needs and any other purchasing and/or sourcing duties as required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Developing and implementing purchasing strategies.
· Managing daily purchasing
· Managing supplier relations and negotiating contracts, prices, timelines, etc.
· Maintaining the supplier database, purchase records, and related documentation.
· Coordinating with inventory control to determine and manage inventory needs.
· Ensuring that all procured items meet the required quality standards and specifications.
· Working to improve purchasing systems and processes.
· Knowledge of an MRP system.
· Team player who is willing to take on a variety of responsibilities.
· Issuing cycle count sheets to supervisors for monthly cycle counts
· Bringing up-to date information to production meetings on order status's
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)
· Bachelors or 5 years experience preferred.
· Experience in business administration or a related field.
· Experience as a purchasing agent or in a similar position.
· Deep knowledge of inventory and supply chain management.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office and purchasing software.
· Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
· Strong critical thinking and negotiation skills.
· Strong planning and organizational skills.
· Ability to work independently.
