Universal Logistics – 2nd Shift Operations Manager – Spring Hill, TN.
Universal Logistics is a third party logistics company that supports major automotive operations throughout the U.S We have about 85 locations spreading across the U.S, Canada, Mexico and Columbia! In Spring Hill, we are supporting GM, working in their battery assembly plant. We offer warehouse and inventory management services, and we are looking to add a Second Shift Operations Manager to our team. This position will answer to the Plant Manager, and be second in charge at the facility.
Responsibilities:
- Handle day to day business on 2nd shift. (M-F, 3pm-12:30am, some weekend work)
- Work directly with GM to handle any issues that may arise. Downtime, service complaints, run plan changes and general support as needed.
- Management of Supervisors and hourly personnel (daily accountability, hiring, firing, training, disciplinary action)
- 1 Safety Supervisor, 1 operations supervisor, 10-30 hourly personnel.
- Oversee a clean and safe work environment is maintained at all times.
- Ensuring all documents and supporting details are intact for all inbound and outbound shipments.
- Make sure the 3RD Shift Supervisor is informed on any issues that may impact his shift. Also, ensure that man power and equipment is good for the 3rd shift.
- Sit in on all interviews for second and third shift positions.
- Manage teams in Workday (time and attendance and some other HR functions)
- Oversee BPD board process is followed and maintained, KPI’s are completed for each team, and safety metrics are met daily and monthly.
- Daily meetings with hourly staff to communicate issues, process changes, or other things.
- Be an active part of the VAS audit process, and the GM SOT audit process.
- Manage continuous improvement projects, update processes, and implement new ones.
- Being a team player is a must. Be willing to jump in and work all positions within the plant for coverage needs.
- Our main goal of this position is to streamline our processes and make our 3 shifts operate seamlessly, as one team!
Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Supply Chain Management or a related field preferred
- Strong background in inventory management and logistics
- Proficiency in supply chain operations and control
- Experience in overseeing distribution centers and warehouse management
- Ability to analyze root causes and implement solutions
- Knowledge of transportation management and category management practices
