POSITION: Maintenance Technician
PURPOSE OF JOB: The Maintenance Technician provides entry level maintenance services with specific responsibility for maintaining facilities in safe operating condition; providing a variety of maintenance activities, maintaining preventive maintenance as needed and/or assigned; documenting information; and resolving immediate operational and/or safety concerns.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the operation and maintenance of the following:
- Assist Director of Facilities with day to day maintenance assignments
- Assists other maintenance and custodial personnel as may be required (e.g. electrical, plumbing, grounds, HVAC, etc.) for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
- Inspects facilities, systems and their component machinery requiring skilled maintenance trades (e.g. electrical, HVAC, plumbing, security, etc.) for the purpose of identifying potential repairs and providing an ongoing program of preventive maintenance.
- Installs machinery and equipment requiring skilled maintenance trades (e.g. electrical, HVAC, plumbing, security, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining facilities in a safe, comfortable and operating condition.
- Performs a variety of maintenance functions as needed and/or assigned (e.g. masonry, equipment maintenance, heavy/light/new construction, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring that maintenance needs are met in an efficient, effective and timely manner.
- Repairs systems requiring the skills of maintenance trades (e.g. electrical, HVAC, plumbing, electronics, locksmith, mechanic, irrigation control systems, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining facilities/vehicles in safe, comfortable and operating condition.
- Maintains vehicle, tools and equipment for the purpose of ensuring availability in safe operating condition.
- Moves furniture and equipment for the purpose of providing adequate preparations for special events.
- Participates in meetings, workshops, training, and seminars, as assigned for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform job functions.
- Responds to emergency situations during or after hours for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.
- Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
QUALIFICATIONS
SKILLS are required to perform single, technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adhering to safety practices and operating equipment used in electrical repairs and installations. A person working in this classification will need on a daily basis, to be able to grasp, lift, maneuver, rotate, and otherwise use small to large trades tools and equipment. Grasp, lift, carry, and set down heavy (50-80 lbs) objects.

JOB STATUS: Non-Exempt

SALARY: $36,000 - $42,000 DOE
