Summary of Job Duties:The Clinical Pharmacy Specialist works under minimal supervision. A Clinical Pharmacy Specialist provides expertise to the department not routinely available from the pharmacy staff. The abilities of this individual may include a broad background in pharmaceutical care, specifically in clinical pharmacy practice. This clinical pharmacy specialist collaborates with other health professionals, managing patient drug therapy/pharmacokinetics/nutrition and promoting high quality, evidence-based, cost-effective medication therapy strategies through clinical recommendations. The clinical pharmacy specialist participates in multi-disciplinary settings and team rounds to optimize patient care while educating providers, residents, and students. Performs these duties in the clinical areas as assigned.Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS in Pharmacy or PharmD PLUS Licensed or eligible for licensure in Arkansas Graduate of an ACPE accredited School of Pharmacy Graduate of an ACPE accredited School of Pharmacy

  • Certification as a licensed Pharmacist by the State of Arkansas or eligible for licensure by the State of Arkansas

  • Certification to administer immunizations by the State Board of Pharmacy or eligible for certification to administer immunizations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of a clinical pharmacy residency (PGY 1) and/or at least 3 years of proven experience in direct patient care in an inpatient clinical practice setting OR PGY2 residency training and 2 years of proven experience in direct patient care in an inpatient clinical practice setting OR 5 years of clinical experience in direct patient care in an inpatient clinical practice setting.

  • Board certification (such as BCPS) is preferred and/or expected within 3 years of hiring.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversees patient care functions, including maintaining accurate records and refining medication therapies to improve treatment results.

  • Handles task prioritization adjusts to shifts in practice and addresses day-to-day operational challenges.

  • Adhere to pharmacy laws, regulations, and policies.

  • Provides training and instruction to staff members and pharmacy students.

  • Participates in initiatives for process enhancement, policy revisions, or research activities.

  • Other duties as assigned.
