  • The Department of Orthopaedics at the University of Maryland School of Medicine is actively recruiting for an Administrative Assistant II to join our team in Baltimore Maryland. This is an exciting opportunity to work in the prestigious Division of Orthopaedic Trauma.  This position will support our Orthopaedic Trauma faculty, rotators, students and state university procurement.  The ideal candidate will provide administrative support and coordination of clinical and educational programs in a team oriented and fast paced environment.

    Scope/Responsibilities:

    • Performs administrative tasks such as preparing correspondence, reports and memos, obtaining research literature from various online medical search engines such as PubMed, NIH, IRB, etc. and/or from the School of Medicine library
    • Researches, analyzes, and summarizes information and source materials for reports independently and communicates findings orally and in writing
    • Develops, implements, and maintains paper and electronic filing systems which meet department needs and satisfy requirements for retention and information security.
    • Makes all necessary arrangements for travel and independently performs required administrative follow-up and recordkeeping.
    • Exercises considerable discretion, independent judgment and attention to detail
    • Collects, compiles and analyzes complex information of a highly confidential nature.

    Minimum Qualifications:
    Must possess a high school diploma or general education degree (GED) and have three-five years related administrative assistant experience. Must possess accurate typing, data entry and organization skills along with strong interpersonal communication skills. Ability to work in a team environment and deal effectively and diplomatically with team members and public. Must be proficient in MSOffice (Word/Excel/Power Point/Outlook). Must possess excellent written and verbal skills in order to communicate effectively. Must be a self-starter and have ability to work independently in a dynamic and rapid changing environment.
