Brief Summary of Job Description
The University of Nebraska at Kearney seeks an enthusiastic, relationship-focused Admissions Recruiter to guide prospective students and their families through every stage of the college decision-making process. As a UNK brand ambassador and storyteller, you’ll play a vital role in connecting with students, and building partnerships with high school counselors and administrators, who are collaborators in ensuring a seamless experience for prospective students. Your curiosity in finding UNK stories and telling them to a wide variety of people and audiences will engage and influence students to start their rewarding pathway to success at UNK.
Job Duties
Engage directly with students and education partners, delivering presentations that showcase UNK’s strengths and opportunities. These presentations include locations both on and off campus, and range from large groups to individual conversations.
Build lasting, supportive relationships with prospective students, offer encouragement, guidance, and personalized attention from their first inquiry through enrollment.
Act as a reliable resource for students and families, guiding them through admissions requirements, application stages, and actions.
Establish connections with high school counselors and administrators, fostering partnerships that support student engagement and enrollment goals.
Provide consistent, precise and timely communication, sharing relevant updates, deadlines, and resources.
Responsible for managing assigned territory using the TargetX/Salesforce CRM system tools, data and communication flows to track student progress, application status, and engagement across admissions phases, ensuring accurate and timely outreach.
Communicate proactively and enthusiastically using email, SMS, social media and any other forms of messaging, using effective communication to share information and build relationships.
Prepare and present reports on recruitment activities, event participation, and enrollment progress. Analyze the effectiveness of recruitment strategies, adjusting approaches to optimize engagement with students and school partners.
Create, maintain and regularly refresh a vast knowledge base of UNK’s academic programs, majors, minors, and degree requirements; student life and campus culture; as well as alumni success stories and post-graduation outcomes, to support the college decision making process and speak to student aspirations.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required. Demonstrated experience interacting and connecting with individuals from a variety of backgrounds. Experience with public speaking and the creation of engaging presentations to a wide variety of audiences and group sizes. Must have the ability to work independently and possess excellent communication and organizational skills. Proficiency in Microsoft office applications and the willingness to learn new technologies is a must. The ability to engage in extensive travel that could potentially occur on evenings and weekends is required, as is a valid Nebraska driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with student recruitment and/or higher education admissions. Bi-lingual in Spanish.
