Basic Function
Serve as a member of the Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs’ cabinet and provide innovative leadership and strategic planning throughout Academic Affairs in furtherance of the University’s ten-year strategic plan. Areas of responsibility include faculty affairs; faculty and leadership development; academic program planning, development, and review; university accreditation; promotion and tenure; and oversight of academic and faculty affairs support units. Participate actively as a member of the Office of the Provost.
Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
In the area of Faculty Affairs: Foster faculty success and development and work to ensure that the perspective of the faculty is incorporated in the planning and operations of Academic Affairs. Facilitate and lead regularly scheduled meetings with department chairs. Serve as the university administration’s liaison with the Faculty Senate. Serve on joint committees of the Faculty Senate and the President.
In the area of Faculty and Leadership Development: Lead new faculty orientation, training for department chairs, the University’s annual Academic Summit, and other initiatives that advance excellence in teaching, research, scholarship, and creative work. Oversee the Office for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning (ATL) and supervise the Assistant Vice Provost for ATL. Oversee academic support functions, such as the Undergraduate Research and Innovation, General Education, and Writing Across the Curriculum initiatives, and other related areas as assigned.
In the area of Promotion and Tenure: Oversee promotion and tenure in support of the Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs.
In the area of Accreditation and Program Review: Lead the University’s reaccreditation with NECHE. Track academic program planning, development, and oversight.
In the area of Provost Office Representation: Represent the Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs on the Administrative Policy Committee and on other committees and at events as assigned.
Other Duties And Responsibilities
Perform other duties as required.

Personal computers, printers; word processing, database management and spreadsheet software.

- An earned Ph.D.
- Academic credentials appropriate for appointment at the rank of a tenured full professor.
- Demonstrated knowledge of assessment, academic programs, and systems of university governance.
- Demonstrated experience with promotion and tenure process.
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated proficiency in written communication skills.
- Demonstrated supervisory experience.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret institutional policies, plans, objectives, rules, and regulations and to communicate the interpretation to others.
- Demonstrated ability to foster inclusive excellence and a sense of belonging within a team.
- Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups/populations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated leadership experience in higher education.
- Demonstrated experience with university accreditation processes.
