This Level III Registered Nurse position in the Infectious Disease Unit at the University of Rochester plays a vital role in advancing research on respiratory illnesses such as influenza and COVID-19. This position combines expert patient care with a focus on research, including patient recruitment, conducting clinical assessments, collaborating with the research team, and ensuring quality assurance to support high-quality, evidence-based outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- : Deliver expert, evidence-based patient care in accordance with policies and procedures. Conduct comprehensive assessments addressing physiological, psychosocial, and developmental needs. Document care, medications, education, and responses per unit standards. Develop and implement culturally and age-appropriate care plans in collaboration with patients and families. Recognize trends or subtle changes in patient conditions and respond effectively. Address complex learning needs with customized educational plans. Monitor staff compliance with documentation standards.
- : Resolve conflicts positively and collaboratively, fostering a respectful team environment. Treat patients, families, and colleagues with kindness and respect, honoring diverse perspectives and cultures. Communicate clearly and courteously with healthcare team members, patients, and families. Actively listen and adapt communication to meet situational needs.
- : Pursue continuous learning and professional growth to meet annual goals. Serve as a charge nurse and preceptor, supporting staff and student development. Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (or actively pursuing with at least 6 credits completed).
- Minimum 2 years as a Registered Nurse in an acute care setting or equivalent.
- Completion of unit orientation, critical thinking, organizational skills.
- Registered Nurse licensure in NYS required.

Pay: $30.33 - $42.47 per hour
