Responsibilities POSITION SUMMARY: Performs complex laboratory assignments, planning and conducting a complete project of limited scope or a portion of a larger and more diverse project. SUPERVISION AND DIRECTION EXERCISED: None. MACHINES AND EQUIPMENT USED: Laboratory equipment, tools and apparatus; computer and/or peripheral equipment. TYPICAL DUTIES: - In accordance with broadly-outlined objectives, requirements and approaches, plans and conducts technical procedures, non-routine and complex in nature. Sets up and operates sophisticated equipment or instrumentation. Constructs major units of equipment. - With latitude for modifying methods and techniques, records, computes and analyzes test data; prepares test reports and makes recommendations. - May review, analyze and integrate technical work of others; assists in psychology, sociology or education studies and experiments involving human/animal subjects. - Prepares computer programs, schematics, specifications, designs, charts, graphs, tables, illustrations, photographs; may assist in preparation of materials for publication. - May perform specialized duties in process or service laboratories, such as photography/illustration services. QUALIFICATIONS: Associate's degree in appropriate discipline plus 4-5 years specialized experience in related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
