Serves as a Post-Doctoral Fellow under the general supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI) pursuing metabolism and immunology-based research. Study projects focus on the mechanisms involved in high fat diet-induced colorectal cancer with emphasis on immune function, metabolism, and microbiome. The post-doctoral fellow will be responsible for overseeing all animal experiments in the PI’s lab. This may include setting up and designing animal experiments. The post-doctoral fellow will be responsible for procedures performed on mice; this may include, but is not limited to, surgical procedures and imaging. The post-doctoral fellow will also be responsible for the daily care of mice according to the PI’s animal use protocols. This may include weighing the mice, administering diets or biological compounds to mice, or behavioral testing in mice as well as oversee tissue collection from mice at the completion of experiments and appropriate processing and storage of tissues. The post-doctoral fellow will be responsible for overseeing all assessments in the PI’s laboratory. This includes appropriate processing and storage of biological samples and assessment of biological outcomes and biomarkers in biological samples. This may include, but is not limited to, measurement of metabolic markers, assessment of inflammatory cytokines, assessment of immune cells, and assessment of various proteins and genes of interest. The post-doctoral fellow will be responsible for writing abstracts, manuscripts, and grants in association with the PI. This may include the generation of initial drafts or editing of drafts. The post-doctoral fellow may also be required to submit manuscripts through journal portals. The post-doctoral fellow will be responsible for compiling data in excel spreadsheets in running statistical analysis and generation of graphics. This data may be included in publications, presentations or grant applications.

Required Certification, Licensure/Other Credentials
- Doctoral (Ph.D.) degree in any biomedical sciences including Immunology, Molecular/Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, or other related discipline.
- Previous research experience with a focus on metabolism, immunology, microbiome and/or cancer.
- Demonstrated ability to follow general lab practices. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and spreadsheet software skills are essential.
- Knowledgeable of hazards of laboratory activities and related safety practices, skilled in setting up, care and use of laboratory equipment.
- The ability to develop and assist with the development of new and improved methodology.
- Required to conduct research activities lawfully and ethically by consistently adhering to compliance policies.
- Ability to work with animals.
