Job Summary
The Employee Wellbeing and Engagement Manager facilitates and promotes health and wellness in the workplace including the management and coordination of a comprehensive employee wellness program. Performs program design and implementation as part of the health and wellness functions. Serves as a strategic partner to university leadership to develop strategies and solutions to address root causes of people related challenges and deliver positive employee experiences for enhanced employee engagement and retention. Provides expertise and contributes to efforts that focus on employee experience, wellbeing, engagement, retention, recruitment and employee development efforts.

Specific duties and responsibilities include:
  • Develop and oversee the implementation of comprehensive health and wellness programs for UWM employees and their families.
    • Manage and maintain a total wellbeing program to reduce health risks and encourage healthy lifestyles including the development and execution of wellness curriculum, events, training, and education.
    • Serve as a liaison between the university and internal/external stakeholders to host wellness programs.
    • Establish relationships and consults with departments and employees to align efforts and reinforce a culture of wellness.
    • Assist employees with personal concerns by providing recommendations and referrals for assessments, counseling, crisis intervention, and treatment.
    • Maintain accurate, confidential records and reports to track and assess employee participation, program incentives, and other relevant information.
    • Assists with preparation of wellness budgets and grants.
  • Comply with all relevant laws, regulations, and policies related to health and wellness programs.
  • Conduct research and regular assessments to evaluate wellness program effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
    • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in health and wellness programs.
    • Identify opportunities for program and process enhancements based on input from key stakeholders and employees.
  • Assist with the development of an employee wellness strategic plan and objectives by reviewing and analyzing trends, data metrics and recommendations to achieve wellness goals.
    • Identify short-term and long-term goals for wellness programs to align with strategic objectives
    • Develop strategic wellness initiatives to promote employee involvement
    • Implement the wellness strategic plan and manage program to achieve goals and objectives
  • Collaborate with schools/colleges/divisions to design, champion and advise on implementation for high-impact people initiatives to increase employee engagement, improve employee wellbeing, increase employee retention and drive positive organizational outcomes.
  • Partner with university leadership on cultural transformation as well as serving as a key resource on human resources and university strategic people initiatives.
    • Provide coaching and advisement to leaders across the organization on best practices for achieving employee performance improvement
    • Assist in defining strategies that cultivate a culture of wellbeing and increase employee engagement and retention.
    • Collaborate with the HR team members on addressing issues that arise from consultation with leaders and employees.
  • Assist with the development of strategic communications including a regular schedule of health and wellness communications.
  • Provide leadership for employee engagement surveys for schools/colleges/divisions including communication, results reporting, data interpretation/analysis and advisement on action plan development.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
Work will be performed primarily on the UW-Milwaukee campus. Specifics regarding work location requirements will be discussed during the interview process.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in human resources, health and wellness field, psychology, counseling, social work, other health related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • At least two years of demonstrated experience in wellness program development, administration and/or execution
  • Experience in public speaking, delivering programs and/or conducting training

Preferred Qualifications
  • Masters degree in human resources, health and wellness field, psychology, counseling, social work, other health related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Professional certification in wellness, health promotion, or related fields
  • At least 3 years of demonstrated experience in wellness program development, administration and execution
  • Experience in data analysis and program evaluation
  • Experience working in higher education, government, or other complex organization
  • Demonstrated experience managing diverse cross-functional project teams
  • Demonstrated experience collaborating and managing relationships with multiple client stakeholders in a dynamic environment
