What are the responsibilities and job description for the Nurse Clinician position at University of Vermont Medical Center?
Unit Description: This is an onsite role. The position will actively work with the Cardiac Surgery, Surgical and Medical Intensive Care Providers, Nursing staff and other disciplines to coordinate and oversee the Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO), and Cardiac Mechanical Devices placed during Surgery. This requires recent Intensive Care Nursing Experience which includes caring for the Cardiac Surgery Patient Population. Will be required to work with the teams when we have a patient with the above, and will require coming in on off hours, weekends and holidays.The enhanced recovery after Cardiac Surgery requires the ability to work with the Cardiac Surgery Providers, teams in the Peri-op, Surgical Intensive Care and Miller 3 to implement, coordinate and oversee these best practices.Education development and delivery is also a part of all of this as well.
Requirements: Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the State of Vermont is required. The University of Vermont Medical Center is moving toward an all Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) workforce. All external candidates hired into, or current employees promoted to, a RN position will be required to obtain their BSN as outlined in the terms of their offer letter. Current internal RNs are strongly encouraged to pursue a BSN to support this initiative. Master's degree preferred.
Qualifications: Minimum of 3 years relevant RN clinical experience in specialty area.
