Fitness Instructor

Position Summary:

Valencia Lakes, a vibrant 55 active adult community, is seeking a passionate and professional Fitness Instructor to lead fitness classes tailored to our residents' needs and fitness levels. Must be experienced to teach a variety of different formats. As a 1099 independent contractor, the Fitness Instructor will provide engaging, safe, and effective group fitness classes that foster a positive and inclusive environment.

Responsibilities:

· Design and deliver fitness classes for a variety of skill levels, including but not limited to Circuit Training, HIIT, and senior fitness formats. Barre and/or Dance Aerobics is a PLUS!

· Adapt fitness programs to accommodate individual participant needs and limitations.

· Encourage and motivate participants while promoting a fun and safe fitness experience.

· Establishes an ongoing positive and professional rapport with residents.

· Set up and clean equipment before and after classes, ensuring all equipment is in proper working order.

· Maintain a professional, courteous, and respectful demeanor while representing Valencia Lakes.

· Must be team oriented to support other instructors in the event there is a need for a substitute.

· Communicate effectively with the Valencia Lakes Fitness Director regarding scheduling, class feedback, and any issues that arise.

· Comply with all Valencia Lakes policies and guidelines, including safety and liability requirements.

Qualifications:

· Current certifications in group fitness instruction (e.g., ACE, AFAA, NASM, or equivalent).

· Specialty certifications (e.g., yoga, Pilates, water aerobics) are highly desirable.

· Current CPR/AED certification.

· Proven experience teaching group fitness classes, preferably within an active adult or senior community.

· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

· Strong knowledge of exercise techniques, safety precautions, and fitness trends.

· Liability insurance coverage as required for independent contractors.

Contract Details:

· This is a 1099 independent contractor position.

· Competitive Pay. Compensation is per class, based on experience and certifications.

· Contractor is responsible for providing proof of liability insurance and certifications prior to starting.
