POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Ensure the health and safety of all children, while overseeing the creation and delivery of off-site, age-appropriate educational preschool programs. Positively engage with members and families to enhance their experience and their children’s growth at our facility while ensuring the delivery of an age-appropriate educational programming.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Child Supervision and Responsibilities:
• Ensure the safety of all children; maintain a high level of confidentiality. Never leave children unsupervised.
• Create and deliver age-appropriate curriculum, leading staff in interacting with and motivating children.
• Interact with children in a variety of positive, fun and learning activities. Comfort upset children.
• Perform opening and/or closing procedures as required and outlined in guidelines.
• Follow and enforce parent/guardian sign in and sign out procedures. Document attendance.
• Assist children with potty training and change diapers. Change outfits when necessary.
• Assist children during meal and snack time.
• Adhere to work schedule and substitute for other staff as needed.
Other:
• Follow emergency procedures and safety precautions, including reporting accidents, incidents and hazards.
• Adhere to policies, rules and regulations, as outlined in employee handbook and other communications.
• Provide feedback and address concerns in a courteous manner, modeling active listening, reflection and response skills in all interactions. Resolve situations immediately by going above and beyond when opportunity exists.
• Provide upkeep of assigned program facilities and equipment.
• Accept additional assignments as deemed appropriate, within the scope of the job description.
• Obtain and maintain required trainings.
SALARY:
Starting at $14.00 per hour.
SHIFTS:
7am-3pm or 8am-4pm Monday-Friday. Please speak with the hiring manager about your preference and availability.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum age 21 required.
• Current CDA Credential or an AA Degree in Early Childhood Education or a BS Degree in Elementary Education required.
• Previous experience in child supervision and education preferred.
• Previous experience in supervision preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Physical ability and stamina to perform the duties as outlined above, including but not limited to extended periods of sitting, standing, and walking; bending, stooping, reaching, lifting and carrying up to 35 pounds.
