Position Overview
The Environmental Associate will play an integral role in advising and representing clients on a broad range of environmental, health, and safety matters. Key responsibilities include:
- Litigation: A significant portion of the role involves representing clients in environmental litigation. Demonstrated expertise in this area is essential.
- Compliance Counseling: Providing clients with guidance on compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations.
- Permitting and Remediation: Assisting clients in navigating permitting processes and addressing remedial matters.
- Transactional Support: Conducting due diligence and providing strategic counsel on environmental considerations in mergers and acquisitions and other transactions.
- Regulatory Enforcement: Representing clients in regulatory enforcement actions and dealings with regulatory authorities.
Candidate Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
- 3–5 years of relevant experience in environmental law, with substantial exposure to litigation.
- A strong understanding of regulatory compliance, permitting, and remediation processes.
- Experience with transactional matters, including due diligence in mergers and acquisitions.
- Strong legal research, analytical, and writing skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication abilities, with a demonstrated capacity to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
