What are the responsibilities and job description for the Food and Beverage Supervisor position at Vestavia Country Club?
JOB SUMMARY: Supervision of Banquet Service Events, Banquet Staff, Bartenders, Grandview grill, Pub and Pool side bar. Assure member and guest satisfaction through proper food and beverage service and presentation. Attend to members’ needs by providing the highest quality of service.
SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Coordinates with Food and Beverage Director, Director of Catering, Coordinator, Banquet Chef, Housekeeping, Laundry staff and others to schedule/coordinate personnel requirements for special events.
- Ensures that proper set-up of all events is performed. This is to include, but not limited to, tables, chairs, linens, table service items and buffet equipment.
- Holds pre-function meetings with servers to ensure smooth, efficient service; assigns server stations and coordinates timing of courses.
- Ensures all banquet staff are well groomed and in proper uniform.
- Assures proper inventory of all banquet service equipment and supplies to meet required needs.
- Oversees special events and private functions and provides assistance to guests.
- Handles member and guest questions and concerns.
- Assures the neatness, cleanliness, and safety of all food and beverage areas.
- Regularly inspects all front and back of the house service areas to assure sanitation, safety, energy management, preventive maintenance and other standards for the department are met.
- Assures the correct appearance, cleanliness and safety of dining room areas, equipment and fixtures; checks the maintenance of all equipment in the dining room and reports deficiencies and maintenance concerns.
- Closes special events and confirms all charges are posted to the Special Event sheet. Assures the room is cleared of all service items to facilitate the cleaning and resetting of the room.
- Conducts after-event evaluations to improve quality and efficiency of banquet events.
- Participates in staff and management meetings as requested.
- Develops standard operating procedures to help ensure that bars are set up and operated efficiently.
- Maintains an adequate supply of liquors, wines, beer, and other beverages through use of an effective inventory management system.
- Trains, schedules, supervise and evaluates bar personnel according to established club procedures.
- Assures that all laws applicable to beverage operations are consistently followed.
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure efficient beverage service in all the club’s outlets, events, and special functions.
- Works with others food and beverage staff to develop wine lists.
- Monitors bar closing procedures (checklist) and assures that area is secure.
- May serve as bartender, if needed.
- Serves as liaison between the dining room and kitchen staff.
- Assures that the club’s policies and procedures for selling alcoholic beverages are consistently followed in all beverage outlets and at all club functions.
- May serve as club’s opening or closing manager or manager on duty.
- Directs pre-meal meetings with dining room personnel, relays information and policy changes and briefs personnel.
- Designs floor plans in accordance with reservations.
- Produces daily or meal-period revenue analyses and other reports from point of sale systems used in the dining room.
- Assures that all side-work is accomplished and that all cleaning of equipment and storage areas is completed according to schedule.
- Additional duties as assigned.
OTHER:
- Must be available for emergency and scheduled work requirements on evenings, weekends, or holidays.
- Must be available to work flexible shifts and overtime if necessary.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. frequently each day and up to 100 lbs. occasionally.
- Must be able to push and pull up to 50 lbs.
- Requires long periods of time standing, frequent bending, crouching, kneeling and reaching.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35 – 45 per week
