Compensation Range:

The base pay range for this position is $16.30 to $18.00 per hour.

The Pharmacy Technician supports the clients in the Drug-Medi-Cal Program by reading and interpreting prescriptions, obtaining proper medication or material in the proper strength and dosage form, and dispenses the medications properly to the clients.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Set up and log new intake information in computer (med-log drive, med-log sheets and copy of 911 sheet)
• Accurately enters data from medication labels into the computer to create and update medication records
• Verify new meds and refill meds and places in designated areas
• Prepare meds for residents going on contact quarantine or going into isolation
• Audits medication records for resident compliance
• Audits medication records against medication container labels for accuracy
• Enters audits into computer and transmits to designated staff
• Creates the new medication records and books for each monthly cycle
• Observes residents’ self-administration of medication
• Provides prompting to residents to follow label directions
• Destroys meds properly with RN or another team member
• Check sharps containers-replace and dispose as needed
• Reports discrepancies to RN, Case Manager and Program Director
• Keeps med room stocked, clean and orderly
• Supervises and coaches residents who use pillboxes to do accurate set-up and refill, and to order timely refills of medications
• Maintains resident confidentiality at all times
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Qualifications

Qualifications:
High school diploma and at least one years of experience within a Pharmacy setting

• Accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to organize and prioritize a variety of tasks/projects.
• Familiarity with Pharmacy Law and industry/technical terms and processes.
• Must be able to fluently read, write and communicate in English

• Minimum 2 years paid experience as a pharmacy technician
• Must be able to stand a minimum of 2 hours, at one time, without sitting down
• Must have strong computer skills, Excel, Word, Microsoft Office
• Must be able to work with diverse population
• Must be able to adhere to strong boundaries
• Must be detailed oriented
• Must have excellent record keeping skills
• Must be able to, comfortably, perform all aspects of job description and other duties as assigned by supervisor

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to bend and lift light objects
• Ability to sit for extended periods of time while viewing a computer monitor
• Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard
• Capable of hearing and speaking to exchange information
• Seeing to read reports and data
• Must be able to work in a noisy, busy environment.
