Description
Jackson Square Animal Clinic is a small, two doctor practice seated in Historic Jackson Square in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. We are seeking a FULL TIME Licensed Veterinary Technician or highly skilled Assistant to join our small, close-knit team!
Required Position Skills:
- Ability to obtain thorough medical histories and vitals on all patients, including exotics
- Professional and thorough client communication and education
- Ability to set up and accurately read in-house fecals and cytologies.
- Ability to obtain digital radiographs on sedated and non-sedated patients
- Restraining canine, feline and exotic patients in a safe and humane manner
- Administering medications via injection (IM, SQ, IV) or orally
- Applying bandages and splints
- Proficient IV catheter placement and venipuncture is a MUST
- Surgery prep and anesthesia monitoring
- Proficient in dental prophylaxis
- Knowledge of available parasite preventatives
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to climb, stand, and at times get on the floor to handle patients
- Ability to maintain a clean work environment
- Basic understanding of Veterinary Pharmacology
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology to decipher medical records
- Knowledge of Vaccination protocols for canine and feline patients
- Willingness and being open to learn new skills is a must!
- Knowledge of Cornerstone is a plus!
