What are the responsibilities and job description for the Deputy Chief Engineer (Seagoing) position at Virgin Voyages?

This someone is a natural leader and is a Department guru, they are the Engineering Departments go-to person, the Chief Engineer's right hand! Along with the Chief Engineer, they will oversea the day to day operations and ensure that ship is running smoothly.
In other words, this someone needs to know how to Make Ship Happen. Your excellent attention to detail and self-starter mentality means you can think quick on your feet and keep calm when ship gets real. Ultimately, we won't be able to remember how we got by without you.
What You'll be Up To:
- Responsible for all of the machinery within the main & auxiliary engine room as well as the cleanliness & appearance
- Participate in the daily operation & maintenance for all of the environmental systems
- Work closely with the Chief Engineer, Environmental Officer, Electrical, HVAC, and Hotel services
- Ensure that the logbook is up to date and teach the crew the importance of documentation
- Ensure that all waste streams are properly treated and disposed of and compliant with regulations
- Responsible for updating & maintaining the PMS (Planned Maintenance System)
- Teach the department about the relevant flag administration requirements and ensure that they are being met
- Assist the Chief Engineer with department budgets & proposals and with ordering spare parts & consumables
- Coordinate all technical work and keeps the crew in the loop
- Mentor/coach the crew
Superpowers Required:
- Chief Engineer Unlimited COC
- Minimum 2 years' experience in Deputy (Staff) Chief Engineer position on board cruise ships
- Knowledge of Safety, Health and Environmental Protection Management System and MLC requirements
- All certificates as required by the STCW code for this position
- Good command of the English Language
- Knowledgeable in ISM matters
