To capitalize on this incredible growth and to achieve Visit Salt Lake’s ambitious vision, we’re seeking a detail-oriented and enthusiastic Director of Content to join our highly collaborative, and hard-working marketing team. This person will lead the content strategy and execution for Visit Salt Lake. The ideal candidate is passionate about storytelling, thrives on creating impactful brand content, and works cross-functionally to ensure all content is on-brand and on-strategy. This role will work closely with the VP of marketing to build a cohesive content strategy that resonates with our target audiences, differentiates us from our competitors, and serves a foundational role in shaping the perception of Salt Lake.
Primary Responsibilities
- Leverages data, insights, and industry/competitor trends to develop and execute a content strategy that supports Visit Salt Lake’s marketing strategies.
- Activates internal teams and agencies acting as a cross-functional collaborator bringing ideas and content to life.
- Measures, listens, reports, and applies consumer and business insights to advise on future directions and approaches.
- Owns Visit Salt Lake’s channel strategy (including but not limited to Meta, TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest, LinkedIn, website, and email)
- Leads the content marketing team (social media manager and senior web manager), committing to performance and fostering an engaged, collaborative, results and learning-driven culture. Drives a culture of open communication and partnership.
- Regular collaborates with Meetings & Conventions, Partnership, Sports, and PR teams.
- Serves as company-wide authority for content strategy; share plans, findings/learnings with wider teams, reinvigorates processes and cascades content across the company.
- Partners with the creative team to build hyper-relevant, digital-first content to support our content strategy.
Identifies opportunities to drive real-time content opportunities to engage in cultural, consumer, and trend conversations.
Develops, delivers, and institutionalizes content standards and toolkits. Optimize existing processes to improve alignment, communication, and our speed-to-market.
Protects the brand – holds self and the content team accountable to adhere to brand standards, guidelines, and rules of engagement.
- Owns Content Marketing budget
Qualifications
- Minimum of 7 years of content marketing experience or equivalent, developing content strategies.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience managing a team
- Knowledge of the Salt Lake market preferred
- Tourism / Hospitality experience preferred.
Strong leadership skills, ability to lead the team and drive alignment across functions
Highly collaborative, can connect with peers to drive creativity and execution of ideas
Ability to convert data, reports, and findings into clear and impactful strategies
Can prioritize multiple projects, and maintain a sense of calm
