What are the responsibilities and job description for the Station Manager position at Vista Fire District No. 1?
This work involves managing the administrative functions of a fire district. The incumbent participates in the preparation of various contracts, reports, and grants, and is responsible for helping the Board of Fire Commissioners with the day-to-day operations. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Chief and Chairman of the Board of Fire Commissioners through personal consultation and written reports. This position is a staff position and does not supervise firefighting personnel. Does related work as required.
Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma; Qualified as Firefighter and EMT-B; strong attention to detail; reliable; hard-working; neat & clean
appearance; good interpersonal skills.
Required to possess and maintain a valid driver's license in a class determined to be appropriate by the appointing authority at the time of appointment.
Knowledgeable of volunteer fire department operations; Good knowledge of fire
management computer programs and basic office software and the ability to effectively use
computer applications such as spreadsheets, word processing, email, and database software;
knowledge of fire alarm reporting and procedures; ability to operate a wide variety of office
equipment; ability to understand and explain the operation of a wide variety of firefighting
equipment; ability to drive any district apparatus; maintain an effective working relationship with
the Board of Fire Commissioners, volunteer fire personnel, district employees, and the public;
ability to read and write; understand and communicate in English sufficiently to perform the
essential function of the position, willingness to perform routine cleaning and other manual
tasks; mechanical aptitude; initiative; resourcefulness; physical condition commensurate with the
demands of the position.
