What are the responsibilities and job description for the Paramedic - Emergency Services Partner position at Vista Health System?
Assist nurses and physicians in providing care to patients. Responsibilities include:
- Evaluate patients; perform diagnostic tests and procedures;
- Perform BLS skills as needed; responds to CODE BLUES and Rapid Responses
- Initiate IV access with MD order; perform phlebotomy and lab specimen labeling.
- Follow the Laboratory’s procedures for specimen handling, processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient test results.
- Conduct Emergency Department discharge call-backs.
- Place patients on bedside monitors, monitor cardiac rhythms.
- Oxygen administration, including high-flow Oxygen; perform Nebulizer treatments per MD order
- Start decontamination set-up
- Observation of Behavioral Health patients
- Evaluate patient progress through monitoring and evaluation of responses to interventions, treatments and therapies
- Maintain trauma room; serve as a member of the trauma response team
- Document patient information accurately, concisely, timely, & legibly
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required, Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Graduate of IDPH or NREMT-P approved Paramedic program.
- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in Emergency Medical Services or Hospital Emergency Department setting
- Illinois Department of Public Health EMT-P Certification required.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications must be obtained within 1 year of start date.
- Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) is preferred.
