SUMMARY

Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of moderately complex, mechanically operated machinery in the production process. This includes start-up, operation, adjustment to proper parameters, preventative maintenance, trouble shooting, and cleaning of the equipment. Requires mechanical aptitude.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Starts machine and observes machine operation to reposition work piece, or adjust machine settings for multiple or successive passes; inspects or measures work, using rule, gauges, and templates.
  • Pushes buttons on control panel to start and activate automatic cycles of production machines.
  • Observes machine operations, material supplies, and position of work pieces to detect malfunctions, needed supplies, or misaligned parts.
  • Performs routine preventative maintenance on machines as scheduled and required for TPM.
  • Works individually and as a team to develop and implement quality and efficiency improvements.
  • Conducts tests and inspections of products, or processes to evaluate quality or performance; examines products or work to verify conformance to specifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Skills/ Knowledge:

Possesses all basic and some advanced skills and knowledge. Has a thorough understanding of the total process flow.

Education:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Requirements

Work Environment:

The work environment is climate-controlled year-round. Noise level is loud and hearing protection is required on the manufacturing floor. The following personal protective equipment (PPE) is always required when performing in this role while on the manufacturing floor: safety glasses and hearing protection. Food Safety PPE is required at all times while on the manufacturing floor.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee must frequently stand, walk, bend and twist, reach with hands and arms, climb, stoop, kneel. Regular fingering, grasping, and feeling: requires repetitive movement with frequent use of hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools or controls and hand-eye coordination.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus regularly.
