* THIS POSITION WILL BE 2ND SHIFT, MON, WED, FRI 7P-11P* Function/Scope: This position is part of an interdisciplinary team. The Group Leader will research, develop and implement activities-based group sessions based on current needs of sheltered women. The Group Leader will use techniques designed to help sheltered women develop positive coping skills, present meaningful life skills, encourage enjoyable leisure activities, and develop healthy living skills. Duties include but are not limited to: Overseeing group topic selection, maintaining shelter calendar, preparing activities, recording attendance and progress, managing group dynamics, maintaining case files, developing relationships with community agencies to present educational opportunities for women, communicate residents progress to appropriate staff, and enforcing shelter and group guidelines. Group Leader will also ensure compliance of shelter policies and procedures regarding the safety of sheltered residents. The Group Leader will complete a monthly group curriculum and submit the curriculum, along with any worksheets or materials that would be provided during the group, to the Program Manager for review. The monthly curriculum must be submitted to the Program Manager by the 1st of the month. Qualifications: • Minimum of associate's degree in the field of human services or 2 years of related experience. Responsibilities: Includes but is not limited to: 1. Demonstrate knowledge and professionalism interacting with the clients in a group setting. 2. Research group counseling techniques and new topics for presentation 3. Provide supportive dialogue during group activities. 4. Assist residents with group process and make referrals to other agencies when appropriate. 5. Ensure case files are maintained and current in regard to group sessions and activities. 6. Attend and participate in staff meetings and follow directives accurately. 7. Assist with various duties such as filing, copying worksheets, keeping statistical data, and scheduling group sessions and activities. 8. Develop positive and functional relationships with agencies and community resources to provide referrals and ongoing education to clients. 9. Use group techniques to verify that residents are completing goals as outlined in goal plan. 10. Assist residents with following policies and guidelines to maintain program compliance. 11. Provide post-residential group support to ensure that residents who have transitioned maintain housing and services to prevent recidivism. 12. Manage and maintain shelter calendar of events. 13. Attend community-based meetings as needed. 14. Act as a liaison for the organization while demonstrating a positive and professional image. 15. Conduct self to promote dignity and respect for all staff, residents, volunteers, and public. 16. Consult case manager when needed. 17. Provide encouragement and support to all clients during group sessions. 18. Perform other duties as needed. 19. In situations where policy is questioned or in case of emergency, the Program Manager is to be contacted. Working Conditions: The Group Leader may occasionally drive to meetings, community events etc. The Group Leader will need to display a strong ability to make immediate decisions when faced with crisis or unusual situations.
