* THIS SHIFT IS SATURDAY & SUNDAY 7A-3P * General Functions: The Security Resident Advisor will maintain a safe and stable shelter facility which allows residents a secure environment and fulfill their day-to-day activities and responsibilities. Advisor will ensure the physical security of the facility as well as enforce residents’, guests’, and volunteers’ compliance with shelter policy and procedures in regard to safety. This position is part of an interdisciplinary team. Scope of Duties: 1. Demonstrate knowledge and professionalism while answering telephones, taking messages, greeting residents and visitors. 2. Keep program files and case notes updated and accurate. Keep paperwork neat and supplied. 3. Maintain a safe and secure facility at all times. 4. Monitor entrance and exit of all guests and visitors. 5. Enforce all security guidelines and policies. 6. In emergency situations or in situations where any policy is questioned, the attendant must contact the Program Manager. 7. Determine eligibility for emergency shelter and complete intake and exit processes for clients. 8. Monitor and report residents’ activities to appropriate staff members as needed. 9. Ensure compliance with shelter policy and procedures in regard to shelter order. 10. Maintain the shelter’s physical appearance as necessary. 11. Facilitate smooth operation of shelter activities and perform minor clerical such as copying and filing when not engaged in other tasks. 12. Accept and document donations when they arrive. Upon receipt, monetary donations must be recorded, photo copied and submitted to the Program Manager. 13. Attend and participate in staff meetings and follow directives accurately. 14. Review previous “End of Shift” reports. Complete “End of Shift” report neatly and accurately. 15. Track volunteer hours with Volunteer Coordinator. 16. Conduct self to promote dignity and respect for all staff, residents, volunteers, and general public. 17. Perform other duties as needed. 18. Complete time sheet and return bi-weekly. ADA Essential Functions: 1. Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, talk, hear, and smell 2. Regularly lift and move up to 25 lbs. 3. Ability to see clearly at 20 inches or less. 4. Ability to identify and/or distinguish colors. 5. Ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while remaining fixed on a given point. Credentials/Abilities: The employee in this position must possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent. Experience in the field of social services preferred. A driver’s license is required, the employee may occasionally drive for meetings, community events etc. The employee must possess a strong ability to make immediate decisions when faced with crisis or unusual situations. The employee must have working knowledge of computer software, specifically Microsoft Office; including Outlook, Excel, and Word, as well as effective written and verbal communication skills.
