W. L. French Excavating is one of the region’s leading construction and trucking companies with an award-winning culture. We are looking for a hands-on Facilities Manager to join our team and oversee the upkeep and maintenance of multiple buildings, including our 40,000 sq ft state-of-the-art repair and maintenance facility and our corporate headquarters, both opened in 2019. In this role, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our facilities, keeping our team productive, and minimizing downtime. This hands-on position requires someone who can plan, manage, and perform the work required, and operate both independently and as part of a team.
What You’ll Do:
- Oversee and perform preventive maintenance for multiple buildings, including the main office and repair shops.
- Review/develop and implement comprehensive compliance and maintenance plans for all facilities and equipment.
- Conduct regular inspections of buildings and equipment to identify potential issues and schedule repairs.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot maintenance problems, perform repairs as needed, and coordinate with vendors for more complex issues.
- Manage inventory of supplies and parts necessary for building maintenance and repairs.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of work areas and facilities, and aid in/perform snow removal activities in winter.
- Maintain accurate records of all activities and costs.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and building codes.
- Oversee the work of Shop Helpers; may directly supervise staff.
- Coordinate and collaborate with other departments and vendors to address facility-related issues.
Who You Are:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in facilities maintenance or a related field.
- Proven ability to diagnose and troubleshoot building, mechanical, and electrical problems.
- Experience with preventative maintenance practices.
- Strong understanding of building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical.
- Collaborative team player with excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Working knowledge of OSHA safety regulations.
- Pre-employment drug screen, OSHA 10, and a valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record are required.
- 1C/2A Hydraulics License, DOT Medical Card, and ability to operate a forklift and lull a plus.
- Experience in the construction or transportation industry a plus.
