What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dentist - Pedodontist position at Waianae Coast Comprehensive Health Center?
POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible to examine, diagnose, plan, and comprehensively treat disease, abnormalities, injuries, and emergency dental services to pediatric, adolescent, and special needs population groups. With limited access to surgical/anesthesia operatory settings on the island, competency in behavioral management techniques is a must.
Positions are for full time salaried employment, but the expectation is that Providers will generally put in over 40 hours per week performing clinical, lab, supervisory, management, and recordkeeping functions. As a Federally Qualified Health Center, patient access is a primary consideration influencing individual work schedules and clinic hours. Providers should anticipate the possibility of working at multiple locations and clinics are open Mon – Sat. Providers may need to provide faculty supervision to residents and be responsible for their competent provision of care to patients of the Center. Allocation of time between patient care and support of the residency program is determined by the Dental Director.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
1. Possession of a valid, recognized dental license to practice in the State of Hawaii
2. Accredited U.S. dental graduates who have not taken the Hawaii State Dental Board examination or ADEX, must obtain a Temporary or a Community Health Center Hawaii Dental license
3. Current DEA and State Narcotic Registration is required of all licensees with the exception of a holder of the Temporary license
4. Experience preferred, but not required
5. BLS certification, if not in possession at time of employment, is required within 3 months of hire
6. Must possess a valid Hawaii Driver’s License and vehicle to travel offsite if necessary
