Maintenance Manager (heavy industrial / wood manufacturing)

The company is a large wood veneer manufacturer based on Winchester, KY. We

continue to invest heavily to be the supplier of choice to the top producers worldwide of

flooring, doors, hardwood plywood, furniture, cabinets, and other industries. We employ

approximately 200 people at this facility.

JOB DESCRIPTION

We seek a maintenance manager to join our team. This position would work closely with the

company owners and plant manager and be responsible for coordinating and managing all

preventative maintenance, repairs, improvements, and new installations of machinery and

equipment, including but not limited to the following: vats, saws, de-barkers, planers, slicers,

lathes, dryers, boilers, tanks, clippers, stackers, rollers, cranes, trucks, forklifts, etc.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

 Monitor the operations and performance of plant equipment and systems constantly to

ensure proper maintenance of machinery, optimize equipment performance, and

minimize unplanned downtime

 Develop and maintain an accurate maintenance scheduling system to ensure proper

preventative maintenance is being performed when needed, track all work orders, and

ensure proper replacement parts inventory

 Prioritize and schedule all preventative maintenance, new construction and factory

improvements based on manufacturing needs. Schedule maintenance technician hours

of work to ensure proper coverage for all shifts, including overtime, shutdowns and

vacations

 Provide technical support to technicians on breakdowns and projects being

implemented

 Train and develop maintenance personnel and technicians to ensure that all personnel

are well-trained, follow all work rules, and are in compliance with all applicable health

and safety regulations

 Supervise outside contractors working in the facility

 Supervise maintenance and upkeep of the facilities including all structures and

surrounding property

QUALIFICATIONS

 Proficiency with large mechanical machines and systems (i.e. mechanical, hydraulics,

pneumatics, electrical, PLC’s, etc.)

 Computer skills (MS Office, AutoCAD, maintenance software)

 Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

 Excellent leadership, communication teamwork abilities

 High school diploma or GED and preferably 5 years of related supervisory experience

 Prior experience in wood veneer or other tangential industries is preferred but not

required

We would ideally like to hire someone within an hour of Winchester, KY for both roles as we have had more success with local people in the past, but willing to consider other options.

The ideal maintenance manager candidate would have technical experience in a heavy industrial / wood manufacturing environment, but most importantly have the organizational skills to manage, prioritize and complete preventative maintenance and maintenance projects.

Pay: $98,642.00 - $104,934.00 per year
