Primary Function
Hands on work leader for painting activities at a small commercial shipyard.
Primary Responsibilities
- Areas of accountability include safety, quality, productivity, and schedule performance of all paint department related processes.
- Holds specific trade knowledge supporting confident supervisory direction.
- Always pursues best practices for compliance and production results.
- Understanding of how trade work impacts workflow of other trades.
Technical Trade Knowledge Desired
- Advanced knowledge of marine paints, properties and application requirements.
- Ability to read blueprints to order paint is a plus but will train the right person.
- 5 years of professional painting experience.
- Commercial airless spray-painting experience with two-part epoxy paint.
- Commercial sand blasting and metal surface preparation experience.
- NACE or SSPC certification (or ability to obtain within a reasonable time frame).
- Ability to accurately document paint events.

Other Job Requirements
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule with some evening 2nd shift work along with some weekend time. Normal Hours are 7:00 am thru 5:30 pm, Monday-Thursday. During major paint events Fridays, evenings and/or Weekends will be expected.
- Skilled in directing and coordinating the work of others.
- Must have strong commitment towards safety and working safe.
- Must have good interpersonal skills and ability to get along with various personnel and work as a member of a team.
- Must be an effective communicator with management and direct reports.
