What are the responsibilities and job description for the Head Football Coach with Teaching position at Washington Academy?
The Head Football Coach is responsible for planning and directing the conditioning, training, and performance of student athletes, along with operational and budget management of the football program. Works closely with the athletic director to accomplish goals of the football team. The Head Football Coach is a member of the faculty carrying a full teaching load and a member of the residential life staff.
Washington Academy currently plays 8 man football as a member of the Maine Principals Association with the possibility of moving to 11 man in the future.
Job Duties:
- Direct assigned Assistant Coaches in the overall planning and execution of the football program
- Monitor and maintain the discipline and conduct of student athletes to support the image and reputation of the athletics program
- Plan coaching and practice sessions in accordance with MPA regulations.
- Coach team members individually and in groups, and demonstrate game techniques.
- Develop and implement game strategy and position assignments.
- Oversee the strength and conditioning programs for student athletes.
- Promote the football program and specific sport through community engagement
- Ensure adherence to all MPA and WA rules by athletes and supporting staff.
- Teach a full schedule of health and/or personal fitness depending on the semester (3 periods per semester of 80 minutes each period)
- Housing & Room and Board provided in exchange for weekly and monthly residential staff duties
