Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes Participating in the administration, resourcing and evaluation of military personnel plans, programs, and activities; conducting research studies related to personnel policy and procedural issues, military personnel functions and systems; writing technical reports and presenting information and decision briefings to support the decision process of senior leaders; developing long-range plans and coordinate with higher headquarters, and recommending initiation, elimination, and expansion of existing or proposed programs.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service (GS-12 or equivalent)

Duties
- Extensive knowledge of governing laws, regulations, DODIs and Personnel Policy Operational Messages (PPOMs) pertaining to retirements and separations.
- Provide assistance to military/civilian personnel, verifying officials, external Federal officials as well as internal DoD and Army elements on an “as needed” basis.
- Conduct extensive fact-finding reviews of military personnel cases involving regular, non-regular, deferred and physical disability retirements.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
