What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fuel Truck Driver position at Watauga?
An employee in this class performs semi-skilled duties in the operation, repair and maintenance of the vehicles in the school transportation program. Manuals are provided as resource guides for new assignments while other tasks are performed based on experience. Minor problems may be resolved; most others are referred to a supervisor. The employee receives limited supervision. Responsible for driving a school bus to transport students to and from school when needed.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES QUALIFICATIONS:
- Working knowledge of vehicle operation and maintenance
- Skill to perform manual tasks associated with engine maintenance, fuel dispensing, washing vehicles, etc.
- Ability to locate problems
- Ability to physically perform minor repairs
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Fills fuel and DEF tanks on school buses and other school-owned vehicles
- Inspects exterior and interior of vehicles for defects and reports any findings to the supervisor
- Drive a school bus or activity bus to tranpsport students to and from school as needed
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Must obtain and maintain NC Driver’s License with a CDL Class B with S and P and tanker endorsements
- Must be able to sucessfully complete an annual physical exam in order to maintain the CDL
- High school graduate or equivalent
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Some experience and training with vehicle operation, maintenance and repair.
- CDL Class B With S & P endorsements.
