What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Accountant position at WaterCo?
Principal Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Supporting the month end close preparing journal entries
- Assisting with SG&A variance analysis
- Inventory analysis to determine the cause of book to physical variances
- Ensuring completeness and accuracy of assigned monthly account reconciliations
- Manage month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries and reconciliations.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
- Review and reconcile general ledger accounts, investigating discrepancies as needed.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis to support strategic decision-making.
- Prepare and file monthly, quarterly, and annual tax and compliance reports.
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processes.
- Collaborate with other departments to streamline accounting processes and improve efficiency.
- Support audits by providing necessary documentation and responding to inquiries.
- Mentor and support junior accounting staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA certification preferred not required.
- 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a corporate or multi-location environment.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite) and advanced Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Effective communication skills to work with cross-functional teams.
